We do not provide emergency services. If you are experiencing an emergency or need immediate assistance with sexual assault, stalking, relationship violence, or other crimes, please contact the UC San Francisco Police Department by calling 911 or (415) 476-6911.

If you need immediate support services and/or are unsure about reporting, we recommend contacting one of the following confidential resources for information and support:

• Student Health and Counseling Services (SHCS) SHCS provides medical care, including mental health care, for UCSF students. Services include urgent/emergent care, family planning, LGBTQIA Care, Alcohol, Drug, and Tobacco consultation, Prescription Refills, and Immunizations. There are additional services available. You can make an appointment by calling (415) 476-8736 or by visiting the web site at https://studenthealth.ucsf.edu/emergencies-after-hours-care.
• Faculty and Staff Assistance Program (FSAP) https://hr.ucsf.edu/wellbeing/faculty-and-staff-assistance-program provides confidential counseling services for personal and work-related issues to faculty and staff. Support is offered for a wide range of issues including work related stress, relationship/couple issues, family problems, depression, anxiety, or other emotional problems, grief and loss, alcohol, drug and other addictions, consultations and training services for faculty and staff management. The FSAP crisis line can be reached at (415) 476-8279.
• Campus Advocacy, Resources and Education (CARE) https://careadvocate.ucsf.edu/ provides free, confidential support to any UCSF affiliate including students, staff, faculty, post docs and researchers who have experienced discrimination, harassment, or abuse related to race, ethnicity, national origin, or other protected categories and to any UCSF affiliate who has experienced interpersonal violence such as sexual assault, dating/intimate partner violence, sexual harassment, or stalking. You may speak to both Kendra and Denise confidentially about your experiences and receive emotional support and resources. A CARE Advocate is available 24 hours for emergencies at (415) 502-8802. Press 1 to reach a crisis counselor.
  • Kendra Hypolite, CARE Advocate for Racial Justice, provides confidential support, assistance, and advocacy on behalf of UCSF community members who are experiencing discrimination or harassment based on their race, ethnicity and/or national origin, and other protected categories.
  • Denise Caramagno, Confidential CARE Advocate, provides confidential support, assistance and advocacy on behalf of the UCSF community members who have experienced interpersonal violence such as sexual assault, dating/intimate partner violence, sexual harassment, or stalking.

• File an anonymous online complaint by going to the EthicsPoint website.

  • Enter a campus location for "Where Did This Occur?"
  • Read the important reminder about passwords and hit" Continue."
  • Next select "Discrimination/Harassment" or "Sexual Misconduct" for the Topic Which Best Describes Your Concern.
  • You will need to agree to the terms and conditions and choose a password before submitting the Report.
• File an anonymous phone complaint by calling the EthicsPoint Hotline at (800) 403-4744.

Your anonymous report will be routed to OPHD.

We encourage all members of the UCSF community—patients, staff, faculty, and students—to report incidents involving sexual violence, sexual harassment, discrimination, and harassment to OPHD. Reporting helps us offer support and ensure that all members of the UCSF community have a safe and inclusive learning and working environment.

• Names of all individuals involved (impacted, accused)
• Your contact information and affiliation
• What occurred, where it happened, and when the incident occurred
• Basis of harassment or discrimination (e.g., race, gender, religion, disability, etc.)

OPHD will review your report to determine if the alleged conduct is covered by the Sexual Violence and Sexual Harassment Policy and the Anti-Discrimination Policy. If the concern falls under these policies, a Complaint Resolution Officer (CRO) will contact you to schedule a meeting to discuss your concerns. During the meeting, the CRO will provide information about supportive resources and discuss options for next steps. If the reported behavior is not within OPHD’s scope, we will contact you and direct you to the appropriate UCSF office or resource.

• Residents and Fellows may file a complaint related to a medical education program (for example, for failure to prevent or appropriately respond to sexual harassment) with the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) here.

Additionally, patients can file a complaint against a licensed medical professional, including physicians, nurses, psychologists and others by going to this website. They can also visit this site, which will allow them to access websites to file complaints about any licensed professional in the State of California.
